Mitsubishi Triton 4N15 custom tune and WinOLS map pack for a South Australian customer

A customer in South Australia sent us the read from their Mitsubishi Triton 2.4 MIVEC diesel (4N15), running ECU software H1D245W (part 1860D28101). They wanted two things: a proper custom tune for the ute, and the WinOLS map pack for the calibration so they could understand and adjust the file going forward. We supplied both.

The 4N15 platform

The 4N15 is a modern, high-pressure common-rail engine with a variable-geometry turbo and a fairly involved torque-based calibration structure. It responds very well to tuning, but it’s also easy to overdo — rail pressure and boost headroom are there, and the temptation is to use all of it. Our approach on this engine is to take the gains that come easily and leave the margin alone.

The tune

  • +45 hp and +130 Nm over stock across the usable range
  • Air-fuel ratio held at 17.8:1 under full load — strong torque without black smoke or high exhaust temperatures
  • Boost limited with a 30 psi hard cut as a safety ceiling for the turbo
  • Fuel quantity left at stock from 3,000 rpm upwards — the extra fuelling goes where a Triton is driven (low and mid-range), not where it would stress the injectors and VGT at high rpm
  • EGR and DPF strategies addressed for the customer’s off-road use

The result is a Triton that pulls hard from idle, tows without hunting and is noticeably more responsive, while the high-rpm side of the calibration is as Mitsubishi left it.

The map pack

The WinOLS map pack for H1D245W covers the full engine calibration: driver demand and torque structure, injection quantity by rpm and torque, maximum fuel quantity by gear, rail pressure requests and limiters, boost targets and limiters, EGR and DPF control and the DTC tables. Every map is named and scaled from our own work on the Mitsubishi platform, so the customer can see exactly what the tune changed and build on it.

Mitsubishi diesels we support

  • Triton and Pajero Sport 4N15 / 4N16 (2.4 MIVEC)
  • Triton, Pajero and Challenger 4D56 and 4M41
  • Pajero 4M41 Bosch and Denso variants
  • Fuso Canter and Fighter trucks

Workshops and tuners can text Josh directly on 0412 205 806 for custom files, DAMOS files and WinOLS map packs — you deal with the person building the file. If you prefer an automated return, upload your read at tacfiles.com. Either way, every file is developed by hand in WinOLS from your vehicle’s own binary.
