Transmission (TCU) tuning — shift maps, lock-up and torque limits matched to the engine file

A tuned engine with a stock gearbox calibration leaves torque on the table and shifts in the wrong place. We tune the TCU alongside the ECU on diesel utes, Toyota autos, DSG and ZF8 — from our own TCU decompiles.

Platforms

Isuzu Aisin 6-speed

D-Max, MU-X and Mazda BT-50 4JJ1 / 4JJ3. Shift points, lock-up and torque management aligned to the engine file; code-level features quoted per job. We also develop write protocols for the late read-protected units.

Ford / Mazda 6- and 10-speed

Ranger, Everest and BT-50 PX. Shift and lock-up tuning and torque limits to suit Stage 1, tow and 3.0 V6 calibrations.

Toyota automatics

4-cylinder LandCruiser 6AJ80 shift-map decode and tuning, Gen 3 Hilux transmission torque limits, LandCruiser 200 and 300 on request.

VW DSG

Amarok, Golf, Tiguan, Audi and Skoda DQ250 / DQ380 / DQ500 — matched to the engine calibration.

BMW ZF8

ZF 8HP shift and torque-limit work on BMW and other ZF8-equipped vehicles.

Nissan Navara

NP300 TCU development in progress — ask for current availability.

Why do the TCU at all?

Transmission calibrations carry their own torque limits and shift strategy built around the stock engine. Raise engine torque without touching them and the TCU either clamps the request or shifts early under load. Tuning both from one read set gives a vehicle that pulls cleanly through the gears and holds lock-up where it should — and on a tow calibration that is most of the point.

TCU tuning FAQ

Which transmissions do you tune?

Isuzu Aisin 6-speed (D-Max, MU-X, BT-50), Ford/Mazda 6-speed and 10-speed (Ranger, Everest, BT-50 PX), Toyota autos including the 4-cylinder LandCruiser 6AJ80 shift maps and Gen 3 Hilux transmission torque limits, VW DSG, BMW ZF8 and others on request.

What changes in a TCU file?

Shift points, lock-up strategy, line pressure where appropriate, and torque management and limits so the gearbox accepts the tuned engine torque instead of pulling it back. Built to match the engine calibration, not sold separately as a generic file.

Can you add features like cruise in manual mode?

Code-level features are quoted per job. We develop these in-house from TCU decompiles — ask with the vehicle and software number.

How is the TCU read?

Most current TCUs read over OBD with Autotuner, KESS3, Flex or PCMflash; some late read-protected units need bench access. The ECU index shows the published method per controller, and we develop our own write protocols where tools fall short.
