Isuzu 4JJ3 multimap — six switchable maps for D-Max, MU-X and Mazda BT-50

Six calibrations in one ECU, switched from the cabin: immobiliser, high idle, stock-plus, tow, power and a custom slot with extras like rumble idle and hard-cut. We cover every 3.0 4JJ3 platform — Isuzu D-Max, Isuzu MU-X and Mazda BT-50 — and every map is tuned by us, not copied in.

Private customers book the vehicle in at Dandenong, Melbourne. Trade customers get it set up and tuned remotely through the file portal.

The six maps we recommend

The slots are yours to define, but this is the setup we fit most and the one we recommend for a daily-driven, towing 4JJ3:

MapWhat it does
1Immobiliser — the vehicle will not start or drive on this map. Park it on map 1 and it is a very effective anti-theft layer on top of the factory immobiliser.
2High idle — raised idle for winching, running a compressor or fridge, or warming up on a cold morning.
3Stock+ — factory feel with the drivability cleaned up. The everyday map.
4Tow tune — 180–190 hp at a conservative 19 AFR on an otherwise standard vehicle. Built for pulling a van or boat with EGTs under control.
5Power tune — around 220 hp on a standard vehicle. The map you flick to when it is empty.
6Custom / extras — rumble idle, hard-cut, launch control or whatever you want in the sixth slot.

Power figures are what we see on our dyno on a standard 4JJ3 with no hardware changes. Vehicles with exhaust, intercooler or intake work pick up more, and the tow and power maps are tuned to the vehicle on the day rather than loaded from a file.

Platforms covered

Isuzu D-Max (2020-on)

3.0 4JJ3-TCX, all grades, manual and Aisin 6-speed auto.

Isuzu MU-X (2021-on)

The Isuzu-built BT-50 shares the 4JJ3 and ECU, so it is fully covered.

Why our maps are calibrations, not copies

The Euro 5 4JJ3 runs an Infineon AURIX TriCore Transtron ECU. We hold our own map definitions for the 4JJ1 and 4JJ3, our own DTC-table and coding work, and the Aisin 6-speed TCU definitions that go with it. Each of the six maps is built in WinOLS from your vehicle’s own read and matched to the gearbox where required — which is why a tow map and a power map on the same truck behave like two different vehicles rather than one file scaled up and down. See the Isuzu Transtron hub for the platform work behind it.

Straight up: the multimap switching engine is a partner developer’s work that we are licensed to install and tune. Everything loaded into it — all six calibrations — is ours, built and supported by the person you deal with.

4JJ3 multimap FAQ

Is the multimap your own development?

The switching engine is a partner developer’s; the six calibrations in it are ours, built from your read in WinOLS and supported afterwards. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.

Can I change what the six maps do?

Yes. The layout above is our recommendation, not a rule. Economy, a lower-powered map for a learner driver, or two tow maps for different trailers are all common requests.

How is the map switched?

From the cabin, without a laptop or phone app. We show you the switching procedure at handover and it is in the paperwork you take home.

Does the immobiliser map replace the factory immobiliser?

No — it sits on top of it. The factory key system is untouched; map 1 simply means the engine will not run until the map is changed.

Do I need hardware for the tow or power map?

No. The figures quoted are on a standard vehicle. If you already have an exhaust or intercooler we tune to it on the day.

Can a workshop interstate or overseas offer this?

Yes — that is what the trade option is for. The read comes through the file portal, we set up and tune the six maps remotely, and the workshop does the flash and handover. WhatsApp +61 466 659 997 for trade terms.

What about the Aisin automatic?

Where the map calls for it, the TCU is matched to the engine calibration so shift points and torque handling suit the tow and power maps. See transmission (TCU) tuning.

Power figures are dyno results on standard vehicles and vary with vehicle, fuel and conditions. Multimap calibrations are intended for off-road, motorsport, towing and commercial use; the immobiliser map is a convenience feature and not a substitute for insurance-rated security.
